a picture without pictures

I am working to develop a picture of G without pictures, without images, bigger: approaching reality. Unlimited, without fences. Images are fences. Definitions are limits. AM, is: saying more is saying less.

only fog lifting from the pond

G’s omnipotence is not
dependent upon the world’s
total submission
nor even anyone’s
acknowledgment
the word itself is wrong
choice
for there is no power
over
only fog lifting from the pond
mingling with our ankles

there’s something new in the world

It feels like
there’s something
new in the world
there is
me
I can be the force
—for good
—for conversation

Conversation Warriors

Those of us seeking to bring conversation into our human consciousness as our way of living our largest, can perhaps see ourselves as Conversation Warriors.

Describing not the world but our own minds

Ilya Prigogine and Isabelle Stengers start out their classic Order Out of Chaos with a quote of Roger Hausheer in Isaiah Berlin’s Against the Current: “They sought all-embracing schemas, universal unifying frameworks, within which everything that exists could be shown to be systematically—i.e., logically or causally—interconnected, vast structures in which there should be no gaps left open for spontaneous, unattended developments, where everything that occurs should be, at least in principle, wholly explicable in terms of immutable general laws.” It strikes me in reading this that these classic scientists were instead unwittingly describing how they wanted their minds to be: systematic, logical, causal, with no gaps left for anything outside their own grasp and control. And yet over the three centuries and a quarter we have found that our minds grow beyond easy frameworks, particularly in their aspects which are inexplicable, spontaneous, and unattended.

You are necessary….

Everything else out there is necessary to complete our world. We are necessary to complete someone else’s world.

large and slow and….

This is a both/and world when it comes to physics: it includes the Newtonian physics of the large and slow, and the quantum physics of the sub atomic and fast.

Measurement varies with the measurer

Measurement varies with the measurer. Time and space do not separate events and what one sees in sequence another sees as simultaneous—or even as the reverse sequence. Mass (presence?) not gravity (profits and losses?) causes the time-space continuum to curve. “Objects” can leap from one “place” to another without going “through” the intervening “space.” Here we have some postulates describing a new way to see business: quantum business.

We feel the world’s out of control. But it’s not. We are.

We feel the world is out of control. But it’s not. We are. Rather, we feel we are no longer in control of what happens. Crazy dictators in North Korea. People driving on crowded walkways trying to run people down. Legislatures and Governors ganging up on poor people.

But we are not out of control. We can do something. We can love. We can extend a hand to another person. Better yet, extend an ear and a heart.
