Footprints in the Windsm # 1017–the work that makes you feel most whole

Footprints in the Windsm # 1017

Do the work that makes you feel most whole, that fulfills your deepest desires. Not for any selfish reasons but simply because that’s what makes the world most objectively alive: what most deeply makes me at home does the same for you, all yous. And this makes selling the proposition easy—and unnecessary.

This work is not easy, nor is it selfish—it is a task taking a lifetime and all one’s living energy to find and invent what is one’s truest self and desires. Getting past ego is both supremely difficult and worthwhile.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1015: shine our lights

Footprints in the Windsm # 1015

There is one self. Of this our individual selves are part. Perhaps like holograms. If I shine a light on you, I shine a light on the one self, and on all. When we shine our lights on each other (which happens as we form centers near) the one whole is lighted and becomes vivid.

So our work is simply this: shining light on each other: on the good and light-worthy parts, because this shines a light on the great self. We understand that this work is different.

Almost at odds with the rest of the world which shouts “Look at me!”

Footprints in the Windsm # 1009: Hallowing the betweens….

Footprints in the Windsm # 1009

This deepest good is not a selfish thing—for one person, nor for a small group. It is for all those we can touch. It is hallowing the betweens. It is honoring the amongs. It is respecting what emerges from together.

Not everything we have that is good and true and beautiful comes from one person. No one person can turn the world, but we can together. No one person can get us to healthy or reduce crime or feed starving homeless people—but together we can.

Together is about farther sight and deeper insight, about hearing more and remembering better, about more hands and fingers and feet, about wider reach and closer degrees of relatedness, about wilder innovation and more practical responsibility. For getting it done, together is beyond one. Maybe because it can be One.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1007

Footprints in the Windsm # 1007

Given that life and I and being are in essence vibration, what is the way to evolving being in higher quality? The structure of the world being vibration of living, then we need to look first for the life breathing in front of us, and see what we can do to preserve and extend that breath.

It is subtle this life. There is life even in the ugliest buildings, in the highway slashing the city asunder. We must look long and deeply. We must look with our own vibrations of love and life. Then we must gently, lovingly point them up, add to them.

So that is a clue as to how. How: transform by preserving structure, by preserving the process and the vibration already resonating. Step by step we see what is there, we add vibrations.

So this is what my task is about. This is what life is about. So far as I know today.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1004

Footprints in the Windsm # 1004

I’m inviting people to a larger view of the world and their role in it.

Our view of the world is consumerist: we see our role as buying and consuming things so that others might also consume things. This is the highest and best use of humans in our secular belief system in the early 21st Century. What I am inviting people to is foreign to this belief system: instead of eating up our resources and grinding up people, let us see that we are better about giving ourselves to each other. Out not in. Giving not eating.

Our task is to meet each other and get to work: get to work repairing and making whole the world. At any time, we can only be part of what we might unfold, and yet we are not even the part we could be. So let’s invite people to dive in, to give their highest and best—their imaginations and blood—to the task of engaging each other in our world, to the task of engaging the best of each of us.

What’s to like? There are lots of people here who care. They are inventive. They want to help. They are kind. They want to make the world better for themselves and the seventh generation. They are passionate. They are trustworthy. Respectful, good, kind, creative, profound, adult, effective, collaborative, amazing. This I like about them. They are not to be feared, but to be invited. Invited to be who they are at their best.

That’s all we need do: Invite people to be their best.

And love them.

Footprints in the Windsm # 998

Footprints in the Windsm # 998

How do we find the ground material of the universe in the arms of dementia? The ground material I see as life, as meeting. We then are in the place of meeting ourselves when we no longer have a brain to call our own. This is frightening for those left behind in brains, seemingly unable to follow us. Yet is there a gentle life, a gentle land out beyond the brain where we can meet? What is it like, and how do we find our way?

What does Rumi say?
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

“When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.”

We might say, Out beyond ideas and right thinking and mind there is a field. I’ll meet you there. The world is too full of talk: ideas, language, even the phrase each other, do not make sense.

Where is that field? Who are we if we do not have our accustomed mind? What does it say if we are, even without our thoughts? Who is this potentially happy person, whom can we meet? Who are we?

What is that field? We are already there. Now we only need to find ourselves here. Then we will know. We can know now.

This is tough work, incredibly painful blood-sweating labor.

So it is beyond 88th birthday parties and not fussing about scattered playing cards. It is facing the presence. Facing the absence of what we thought was presence in order to face the real presence. Who is Mom or Dad without a mind? Who am I without my mind? Who are we together? Is there a together that is more fundamental than each of us?

Here we are. We can do no other. We. Are. Love.
