Metaphors in our midst
Metaphors in a muddle
Lead us out and in again

Metaphors sometimes grow up out of changes in our thinking. For example, see how computers and Internet have led to metaphors of networking and nanobots. But notice too that metaphors act on our thinking carrying it in new directions. Metaphors as hinges!

The thread in our needle
is twining itself into thread
as we stitch our fabric together
:- Doug.
“God will fix this!”
“Your imagined God does not exist.”
Ponder: they both are right
For surely neither sees
Large enough
:- Doug.
Persevere we must
through some hundred thousand generations
now can we stitch with a thread long enough?
;- Doug.
In this upcoming meeting
a prickly person
an entangling knot
I may have to use
my super powers
put on a mask so I don’t recognize myself
love us in a single bound
affability,
imagination, hearing:
these our cape
and flying
:- Doug.
Not O help them
Pray O help us
We have the need
Larger
If only to see
Ourselves in them
Enfolded
:- Doug.
Spirit is the
progressing realization
of all there is
inherent
in me
:- Doug.
We humans are already and always connected. In synchrony, mirroring, and unison—in conversation—we realize upon our capacity.
:- Doug.
The tithe might just be to get us realizing these are people and part of a larger context than our little me, our little purse. To the extent we see we are not alone, all grows.
:- Doug.
Evidently I cannot put words to this stuff. It may be just beyond words. It is squirty, and as soon as I think I have it grasped, it squirts out between my fingers and toes. Since I want to be intimate with it, how can I not pursue it? But then, if I am still, maybe it will come out to meet me.
:- Doug.
Have we gotten to the current place
—The place of now?
—The flowing of power?
—The crossing point
Of last and next?
:- Doug.
Growing together,
Coming, bringing together
—Inviting awareness of
What really matters
To us all—
So we—a larger we—have a
Next distinct from our last
:- Doug.
My feet already wet with life
Diving is not an option
Mash mash mash
Out of the grapes
Blood!
:- Doug.
In the inviting
In the imagining
In the sending
Greater things than I
You will do
I begin to see Jesus
Was seeing what humanity
Has done
Yet will do
More than any single man
Humanity acting as divinity
:- Doug.
Friend, into Your Excitingly Risky Vulnerable Human Divine Intimate Now.
:- Doug.
This might just mean that a breakthrough in legal practice will emerge. It certainly cannot if we do not do the experiment. The opportunity is here as well as out there. From here the community can grow. Community is beyond my needs, to something larger in space, in time, in souls.
:- Doug.
Dive in, the experimenter immerse in the test tube! See what bubbles up!
:- Doug.
I have been on the cusp of seeing that I can bring this more into my practice: to get people to engage more, to take a human part, by starting the personal, humanly vulnerable ways. They do not even have to see what I am doing. Perhaps: Here is what I am seeing; Here is what I saw in my life; Here is what I felt (or maybe what I feel, if vulnerable); What are you needing; What can we ask of each one of us?
So the Work can more interweave my work.
Is this deep enough? Nothing is ever deep as it can go, but it is often deep as it will go for now. A better question: does it go in the right direction? Is it an experiment in which I create the space, go live in it, and then study what emerges?
This is about bringing together. We can start with the people who cared enough to show up at the appointment, converse in these steps, show them a way, perhaps even give them the steps for talking with family and friends, getting them started, show them they have just been on the path, they have already started the path.
Because the job is coming together. The legal job and the World Work is coming together.
