There is a common view that we live on information. This is not true on two grounds: first of all, if life is primal, then the flow of information is what is important, not the information itself. Secondly, it is not even the information that life is after: it seeks instead meaning: what does this information, this intercourse, mean to me and to those around me? So it is the flow of meaning by which we live, and this is conversing. It is how these things interact, how life interacts with life, that is of significance.

Life it seems necessitates and implies loving….

Life it seems necessitates and implies loving. To interact with your environment suggests that one needs the environment (for food, air, sunshine—life!), so to destroy your environment would make no sense at all and eventually there would be no environment, no life. To live is to give birth, to create, and if one ate one’s young we’d have a being eating its own tail, consuming itself till nothing was left. To create suggests that one wants the created to continue; to live suggests that one wants to continue: both require that wishing well of others and the environment, which is love. Life necessitates love; life implies loving.

….The first thing we do is take in air, cry.

Conversing looks like a tool. But is it? It seems to be what life does—interacts, intercourses with its environment. Life eats and eliminates—it takes in and leaves behind what it has used. Waste is food for other life. Sentient life takes in feelings. Intelligent life takes in concepts and ideas and words and emotions—and this is food for us. We live on, are birthed as persons by, conversation. Basic, primal, rudimentary, foundational, seminal. The first thing we do is take in air, cry.

Dreaming and storying are forms of living, of intensifying life….

Dreaming and storying are forms of living, of intensifying life. Conversing is what life does. It is more than conveying information and even more than conveying feelings and emotions: it is interacting with our environment, which is the essence of life. Storying and dreaming are means of that. Conversing is foundational.

…because of information…

There are said to be in every cell of the bacterium Escherichia coli 2.4 million protein molecules, 22 million lipids, 4,000 types of proteins, 4.6 million nucleotides, and 40 billion water molecules. They communicate. But they communicate for a reason: life. We do not live because of information, nor because of communication, but because of flow of meaning.

We used to own a thought….

We used to own a thought that thought we would link our hands and thoughts in a line, right hand to left hand, all up and down But now we’ve noticed we can link here in time there in now and elsewhere in when, we can link seven directions beside us and thirteen directions under our feet and over our heads, and thirty-four more directions of directions and we can do this every day and every moment of every day, so that what we thunk and what we thunk we thunk, we seldom did, and even less did we add life to the world And that we can links us in ten thousand directions and so do they

Filling/is all space/Dreams mark each center/Ask about these/….

Filling
is all space
Dreams
mark each center
Ask
about these
Tunnels
out of the
Plenum

Plenum
brings forth
Dreams
around which
We
form, pearls to soothe the
Irritating

Ask, ask after
Dreams
go a little into the rabbit

What we are doing differently:….

What we are doing differently
We are inviting
The dream
The sadness
The belonging
Because these are
Windows, doors, skylights
To the blazing
All there is

Every person has…/A dream/….

Every person has a soul
A dream
We must watch to see
Open, invite, present an open hand,
An open heart
Something matters
Some beauty wants out
Some good yearns to see day
Ask, listen, listen
It’s there, looking down, waiting
To dance
