Great responsibility to meet others with one’s whole life now strikes up against What sort of x, What do you want to happen? They spark. We we do not yet perceive these sparks clearly. We can guess directions: two to search between; one to cut deeper incisively; who and where else?

This is the work; the work is not to get to the last page of the chapter or book. The work is to strike this idea against a prior held one, to see what sparks fly, and if they can be constrained to start even a conflagration.

Mostly we do not hear as we are addressed. So we miss our opportunity to respond. It is our responsibility—it is mine—to hear what is unexpectedly said, and to kindle the spark of turning to meet the depth.
