Yes, we’re going to die
but taking responsibility
we can live through that too

Now I need to remember to do my loving work, to pay attention to those today I may love.

calls us to pay attention
but is not a name

God doesn’t do magic tricks
for me
any more than my wife does
we are related
we love one another
that is all
that is more than sufficient
so I don’t bow down to worship
trees, fish and wind:
sister sun,
brother moon,
love me
we respect one another
we do loving things
light, warmth, visions
no magic, bigger

The weather—this windstorm—is larger than us. We think we can walk through it being too small for the wind to bother with, or we think we can with our car plow through the storm untouched. But it is larger than us. Attention must be paid! Attention: is this the currency of the gods?
