The difference between listening and hearing is like that between issuing an invitation and accepting one. Both are good; one is done to another and the other is done with. Hearing is more good-natured, accepting more of the other.

Once we see that people want to connect heart level with us, it changes us. We become more attractive perhaps, but others are more attractive to us: we are not selling but simply a part of their divinity.

Once in a while it is fun to make a conversation into an interview: not as investigatory journalists, but as exploratory, looking for the light flashing between and among: finding the gems, teasing out the germs of ideas.

I wish to examine how I do things, the extent to which I am open. Can I hear out others? Can I take their opposing positions and allow them, without needing to counter?
