You own the world!
You own the world!
I own the world!
We can make it better!
:- Doug.

Woe, woe upon us
our soul is dying within us
we are killing it. Grief!
killing our soul with our incessant judging
excluding hating warring pushing away
failing to meet singing songs of rape
pushing our children! and ourselves
for accomplishment, as if life were contest
and someone might get ahead of us to the grave
We can choose to live embrace meet converse
include hear speak work love
make change
:- Doug.
You are in the apocalypse
the revelation the uncovering
the unfolding
and you are fighting it!
:- Doug.
“I shall put my bow in the Heavens”
and I ripped the grey cloths
out poured rainbows from the people!
:- Doug.
We are community disorganizers because ordinary people can take charge for the world.
:- Doug.
The only thing
—the only thing!—
measurable
is less than the whole
:- Doug.
Who cares? Who cares about the immigrants? Who cares about the imagination? Who cares about the children? Who cares about this injured young man? Who cares? Gather these.
:- Doug.
What in the world do you want to change? How can we get more engaged in this important work?
:- Doug.

Whomever will listen, speak with. Never mind the Reason why. Reason does not understand all Whys. We must confront one another.

What happens in some conversations is a respiration: We have a deep conversation which plants seeds deep in us; we go about our day, and suddenly a sprout or even a flower!; then we take the green or scented being back to conversation and plant more seeds in us, in others, in betweens, and on the circle rolls. It is not individuals, nor meetings, but intertwined.
:- Doug.
What good is vision? It helps us work toward what matters, toward change that brings about the wholing of the world. It brings justice and being heard to every voice. It makes a world that works for all.
This will ever be a problem to address, one we can never solve, since conflict leads to transformation leads to new conflicts to address, new deaths and resurrections.
:- Doug.
Flowers opened
seeds sent forth
full used up!
worry not how it turns out
Give your seed
your scent
your particular beauty!
:- Doug.
Given me
this vision strange
“open his eyes” the prophet said
“rip the grey cloth” you said
“poke holes, poke holes”
So others may see
what they have not yet seen
Such a load upon my shoulders!
I suppose it fits
On earth
perform the vision
for people
to see
:- Doug.
To whom do I wish to speak? Those who can be influenced to take the next step.
:- Doug.

:- Doug.
Each person finds his or her own way
but are there ways that have worked?
are there new ways we can forge
for others to follow?
new paths to initiate?
:- Doug.

It is blessing not to have a retirement account
To keep one’s eyes on what we can do
For many need our help
And much there is to do
To make a world where each and all
Are heard & their gifts received
To seek retirement is self-indulgent
Please pass it on.

What is on
the far side
of conflict?
beyond the love that
lets us hear—
attend—each other?
Curiosity and Imagination
may take us there
but where is there?
Our contraries are
hammered to shards
we are ground up and
thrown into clay
new vessels to
pour out new fires
upon the earth
fires to lick our
sacred structures
fires to be fought
—fearsome conflicts—
new betweens
new beyonds
and all rolls on
as I have told
and question asked
and question asked
:- Doug.
Poet, you must be prophet
if you are to be true
to your work
Forth-tell!
Blake: “If you go on so
you will get so”
Vision-teller, imaginer,
creator
Raise your voice
:- Doug.
