Footprints in the Windsm # 1537–Hear the waters as they roar

Footprints in the Windsm # 1537

Recline here floating
through and among
the breezes

The air, betimes,
takes a deep breath
of us

Hear the waters as they roar
and fall rush
and babble lay flat
and low over miles
—it is music—
it is you, it is you

Footprints in the Windsm # 1534–I saw that all is flow

Footprints in the Windsm # 1534

I saw that all is flow, that we are given to change the flow. We are in this creators, makers of our world. Our world is not concrete, not substantial, and we need not accept anything as given. Our swirling and muddling is all the substance there is.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1532–scrambled

Footprints in the Windsm # 1532

We are a scrambled egg: all the violence we are doing to one another, how are we ever going to put us together in peace? We probably can never unscramble our egg, so what can we make of it? How might we find a sauce, make a dish, a meal, that allows us to sit at table together, and make a go of living together?

Footprints in the Windsm # 1531–Fear the enemy

Footprints in the Windsm # 1531

Fear the enemy
Love the commonality
Hiding the tactic
Saying who we are the armor
Gathering of brokenness the strength
Conversing the easy courage
How we live our dying the common ground
Fights the halfway up the mountain
Leaving them inconsequential behind the way
Those who care the family
We all want to arrive here: together

Footprints in the Windsm # 1530–So yesterday I wrote a poem

Footprints in the Windsm # 1530

So yesterday I wrote a poem about the fun life invents for us, paths forking without end for us to try today, and yesterday I found the F. David Peat Website postings about Gentle Action, and this morning I am seeing a correlation between them. It is fun to try our forks, to invent new ones, and that indeed is how we are invited. So this is a call to small groups and gentle action around the edges, realizing that we are nudging more than controlling. We can tell a child No and of course it does not stick, or we can redirect to something else bright and shiny and intriguing, and that does work. And the child’s creativity (what the child was about from the beginning) is not stifled, it is nourished.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1529–We are the age

Footprints in the Windsm # 1529

We are the age seeing the breakdown of the cheap fix—the one where someone else does it for us, where a command is given and all falls into line, where we can predict the results of what we do, where we have no responsibility but can place blame, where experts and politicians peddle “solutions,” where one problem can be fixed at a time. Instead we each see our responsibility for where we find ourselves, we find our problems are bigger than we think today, we find the necessity to give our time, sweat and absolute engagement. Or we die.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1527–not even a comma to separate them

Footprints in the Windsm # 1527

The problems that face us are subtle complex and nuanced. We must be too. They are many and interlaced—not even a comma to separate them. So we need be too. They come together. So must we.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1525

who do together and matter to one another

Footprints in the Windsm # 1523–a song I will not recognize

Footprints in the Windsm # 1523

I am a collection of cells
hanging on together
cells coming and going
moving through
earth air fire and rain
to music seldom heard
as I move as I breathe
writing the score of life
a song I will not recognize
for a thousand years
or two

Footprints in the Windsm # 1520–Why are poor people a threat to the wealthy?

Footprints in the Windsm # 1520

Why are poor people a threat to the wealthy? Why is it bad logic to have everybody share the wealth of the nations, company, community? How is ingenuity curtailed by sharing? Do not people create for the creating that is in them and must be expressed without reference to gold bullion rewards? Do you hug and smile only for cash? Does it have to be that either you or the other has ample or to spare?

Footprints in the Windsm # 1517–Of a different quality from two

Footprints in the Windsm # 1517

Thinking their public simple (like them?) some people think they lead by stating opposites. This or that, good or bad: binary logic. But life adds third choices, thousands of them, crossing into undreamed territory. Three is not just a different number. Three is of a different quality from two.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1516–We contain

Footprints in the Windsm # 1516

We contain
We contain atoms
Are not made of them
Rather they of us
We contain each of us
Are not made of us
Rather us of we
We are made of moving
The ground on which we stand
Is space ceaselessly moving
Moving around little electrons
This ground we call solid
Itself flying around a gassy fire-ball
The body is not made of
Arms legs ears and smile
Rather the other way around
If we but see it
All we see
Is made of the whole
Moving

Footprints in the Windsm # 1515–one person depositing ideas into another

Footprints in the Windsm # 1515

Conversation goes beyond one person depositing ideas into another.

It works toward inventing ideas, circulating them, tickling them to breathe. It works toward consciousness—knowing together—creating knowledge together. It works toward action.

But most significantly, it works toward permeability of the edges separating persons.
