Anyone can do compassion in an instant
yet to do it wholly takes a lifetime

Conversation
is a path to
compassion
Compassion
is the path to
conversation

If we are to become whole we must we must get out beyond ourselves.

Could we be living in a period of great darkness? Could it be our task to give light?

When is it too late to ask Mom or Dad? You can still have a conversation about future medical care with your loved one, even if they are not able to speak with you coherently:
—speak with your siblings about their memories of what Mom or Dad valued
—speak with Mom or Dad about what comforts they want in their days and moments—there can be clues if you listen
—speak with Mom or Dad by way of journaling: have a conversation on paper with them about their wishes and loves; keep asking till you have filled at least two pages
Remember that if you could speak with your parents face to face, you might not get a full explication of their wishes, but have to tease this out over time.
What these methods of conversing are doing is moving us to a different place: a Now space where we can let the years drop away, where we can access memories and living pulses that are still echoing. So there are other ways, if we but hear this stream.

You have to live your life
You have to find you own path
Through the wood, yet more—
We must become alive together
Creating life out of our Us

Jesus
not the teacher
not the leader
the first to cut a fresh path
showing us we can clear our
own and be owned by life

The healing work of the lawyer includes also healing the family over this losing of Mom and Dad to a disease or a grave, slowly or suddenly.
How do we, together, heal your family? What does your family need? What is it most crying out for? This raises the question not of psychological or emotional healing, nor of economic healing, nor of spiritual healing, but of all of these, and much more, working together. It is the together that the lawyer works to heal.

A leaf
I too am floating
A leaf upon the water
Life is carrying me along
A leaf upon the streaming waters
I cry: Look out! Disaster ahead! Obstacle!
The leaf does not care, is conveyed around
Shouting “Whee!” being carried to
Its end of the stream; from here,
Nourishing, journeys anew
:- Doug.
What to say to these caregivers? Not much. Simply invite to wholeness. Ask what are the good times? Are there compensations? What is working you these days?
:- Doug.
Weal is related to will and wish and well. So a Will is a Wish that another be Well. It pulls us out of ourselves to think of another, to think of the other’s well-being.

Law is one of the three original healing professions. I work to extend that healing work.
:- Doug.
The trees are reaching
not up but out
all life is reaching out
because out is
where we meet
the ever larger

Once upon a time there is a community who reached its turning point by earnestly conversing.
