Lullabies are a conversation. Of course father sings to youngest babe. But the child’s flickering eyes, the pillowed and soft-lit surround, has called forth the song: the eyes, their glint, the yawn, the settling in.

When in conversing one or both of you misses the cue and something is lost for ever, it is vital—it is of life and death—to forgive yourselves. It is of life and the life that comes from death, this death.

Maybe a bigger question in conversation is fit. Do we fit? Fit together? Not only or even harmonize. Rather make good the good of one another.
Make good the good of us.
We’re not two puzzle pieces. These pieces are moving. Breathing. Growing. Pulsing. Our edges shifting, complementing. Completing.
This might be the why of feeling part of one another or of something bigger. Completing: not complete. Making whole. Wholing.
