What we humans are doing every moment is trying to fill out the detail and meaning of our role in life, of how we are important to the health of the world.

How we perceive the world and what we construct out of those perceptions determine what we see and in turn what we do. If we see impossibility, we do nothing; if we see possibility, we re-shape the world into something better. If we see the world as flux, conversation flowing, people loving, we can move easily among peers. If we see competition and threats, we are on our toes, continually choosing between fighting and fleeing: we miss the other alternatives.
