From afar
From afar this comes
:- Doug.
Notice something you have not previously. Something smaller, larger, different colors, sounds, smells, bolder, softer, hidden.
:- Doug.
Conversation serves to transfer life. All life transfers. All life converses.

Last night I slept more refreshingly and longer. I had nothing on my schedule for today. Maybe I’m more sensitive to my state of agitation than I had thought, so my sleeper/waker parts pick up on that.

Gentle, a white chrysanthemum
a steaming baked potato
a dollop of sour cream
with a row of green chives
to center my eye
and free my softer senses
to waft over the full world
:- Doug.
True the singing here between
As Rilke’s sonnets to the god of song
Any impassioned set aside for air
Without an object, a soft or mighty wind
A gust within our sacral mystery
:- Doug.
A beaded curtain mystery
one the other to
and conversation is
the finger pulling back
a strand or two
:- Doug.
I am a mystery poet
I ask the poems about their mystery
as I ask you about yours
:- Doug.
Conversing allows for
turning our heads
and tasting
the world through
different feet
living where
dreams are sown
:- Doug.
What have been your best kinds of conversations, the ones you want to keep going, and to invite again?
:- Doug.
Conversation lives
Not in the words
Nor in the gestures
Nor even the glances
But in the
—Exchange—
Of our pith
—And does not abide
But how is it that
In these exchanges
Each gains?
:- Doug.
Whether it be life or not, conversation is in the very thick of it. The well springing.
