In view of folks’ trepidation, how call it out to play? We must risk to invite. Put ourselves on the line. Find common air. Beyond common ground, common breath. None of us knows, but each of us experiences. Let’s get beyond head beliefs and supposed knowings to what touches us, what moves us to our best.

People I think are afraid to name the numinous, own it, play with it. Afraid of stepping on others’ toes, of raising others’ ire, over something that does not fit with the others’ belief system. It is more than we don’t know what they really believe (this is a vicious circle then, too), and we do not wish to offend: no, there is a real physical danger these days with religious extremists turning to terrorism to rid the world of all others.

So it is not about teaching the numinous to others, but touching what is already there, evoking it, calling it out to play.

Deeper conversations seem to involve more than two persons—even if only two are present.

Conversation is that intensely alive unknowable thing that contains all.

A problem with goals is not that we use them at all, but that we misuse them by thinking they are the ultimate good or at least ends of life.

Every day I see something new. In this way life pulls me on, wraps me in its intrigue.

All’s a conversation: one with others, birds with wind, horses with flies, cedars with snows, you with me. Making clock time for the conversation is impossible: it is designed to be fixed spaces that tick away without mercy. Kairos time is time of the gods: flexible, stretching, turning corners, allowing humanness, allowing for conversation among humans and humans with time itself. Kairos is time in conversation with human spirit.

Chronos is about business: Dollars and Numbers. Kairos is about life: its beauty, its goodness, its truth—that life matters. Nurturing matters. Mattering can happen in an instant.

Kairos also takes the time it takes: it comes in the form of flow: clock time passing in a blink, and we do not know how we got to this hour. So it is dangerous, too. But then we come to realize that love is dangerous.

Truth is, Kairos is about life, not about business. Life matters. Nurturing matters.

Kairos is an art, it is about beauty and goodness.

Consciousness, spirituality, art, abstract thinking, rationality, all intertwine in an intricate conversation.

Deny evolution? Then read to me some Chaucer or even Shakespeare.

The world includes our imaginations, what we can create and almost create, what we fear and what we love. The world is bigger than the reach of our fingers and voices, wider than the time edges of our lives.

We don’t value life, even in this country. Others may kill in barbarous ways, but we kill just as surely, if more slowly. The evidence is in what the politicians argue about, what the reporters report, what the bosses demand: money, profits, power, death, mayhem. When will we value life, love, and good?

Perhaps they live longest who have the most to figure out.

My computer network is like a spider web, with circles and direct lines from point to point. I have noticed the lines are more permanent than the points of contact, or maybe more real is the fact. Then I recently saw something better than web or net—systems, and beyond that conversation. The computer network enables the conversation. The lines are not the fact any more than the persons: the conversation is. Dynamically turning.
