To hear one another out means at least two things: 1. To allow the person to say the whole thing, till they feel complete; 2. To help the person explore the profundity of their own voice.

Can we begin to notice the air in which we move, the pictures and assumptions we have constructed? For example, do we feel we are less important, less worthy, if and when we are ineffective, dependent, unproductive, resting, lazy, playing, relaxing, pondering, recalling, reflecting?

A direction to look for the large ways within the little ways is qualities beyond quantities, inclusiveness of both.

Every day I see something new or anew. This is as it should be. I am working towards a larger understanding and a larger picture. Mind you: direction, not goal, for the world must ever grow: there is no end point.

Oh, the situation is far more complex than you have said. You have said it is too complex to solve. In fact it is so complex it will take all of us to get beyond solving it.

What other small ways that are big ways? Don’t seek or become attached to outcomes. Do the work. Get it out there. Be vulnerable. Lay the brick with care for the cathedral, don’t worry about getting to the bell tower while you are on the foundations.

Little ways can be big in faithfulness. Still, I hear a pulling to raise my voice. That is faithful to me.

I don’t know what later times of aging will be for me. I only know what it is now. I am savoring slowness, reflection, and connection. I am turning to opening to what may come.
