When we have left?
What is left when we old ones have left?

There’s an angel in that child
urging her up and out
and in that elder as well

We, at the pinnacle of our humanity
Choose—or not—to imagine a higher stage
And higher still—in all the grandchildren

Imagination causes you
to do (and be)
stop at a red light
for you are law-abiding
there may be a cop to see
or you are helping traffic flow
held by your imagination

Gentle hands on levers, softly open embraces, slight push releasing a toy sail boat on this pond: Elders giving to the grandchildren.

We dim and blaze, go and come, pulsate: we imagine a better world for the grandchildren.

In those houses
Whose solar panels
Heat the water
The people bathe
In sunlight!
