Why do you want to improve the grandchildren?

How do we engage the interim elders? Or our peers? Ought we?

What’s true? Ask yourself. Extend yourself. Write it.

Where we are today is just the interim stage of where we’re headed.

:- Doug.

We are at work on unforeseeable futures.

:- Doug.

We work in the caring industry.

:- Doug.

Technology is generated by a human need to be filled, and the human desire to create.

:- Doug.

When families are turned upside down to nurse their elders, and especially by the cost crisis it brings, that’s when we get to work.

:- Doug.

When the government is irresponsible, business has stepped up. That’s the leading edge of what we have been seeing the last months. Retailers no longer selling automatic weapons, others banning weapons being brought into stores. Some stopping the sale of dangerous vaping products. Maybe for some it is a marketing ploy. Maybe some are taking responsibility for our society. But they are reading the public and maybe even what’s right, better than political “leaders.”

We’re not seeking agreement nor deference, rather diversity, innovation, and novelty: in other words, seed and fertilizer.

Our elder group’s conversations are models of how 300-year grandchild elders might receive our ideas. What reception do we want, expect? Respect (as in look again)?

I want to learn more about taking a conversation deeper. Might we use Why? differently from other uses? This one is about What matters to you, Who are you, What were your dilemmas, your subtexts? The other, the usual Why?, seems to me about surface level, logic level, not reaching gut level. So we have a head Why? and a further-down-the-body Why?

This Why is open, seeking to know one another on the basis of mutual vulnerability.

A machine is an expression of humanity.

If there is to be an economic singularity future resulting in no human work of economic value, perhaps we will find our worth in something akin to being. Then again, moving, doing, creating, and growing seem of our essence.

We cannot predict futures. Perhaps we can influence them.

Is our task to emerge new questions?

:- Doug.

Ambiguity is our friend, giving us choices.

:- Doug.

To move from normative and prescriptive to embracing complexity, emergence, and novelty is yet prescriptive: it uses value, and that in taking in more of the world.

How do we go into our futures? We Slip, we Slide, we Muddle. If we used the gift of far-sight, we might improve. We might get intentional.

Ought caring be conscious? Or written on our hearts? Both?

I’m exploring the futures of caring.

The hallmarks of life’s development seem to be gathering and complexity. Thus our rush to artificial general intelligence is the next step in gathering and complexity.

Place a decision before people.
