I see a continuum: on one end, we ask people to be informed and have their donations of time and money solicited. On the other end, their talents are not merely solicited but engaged: here the potential of the group opens out widely. On one end a focus; on the other fluid patterns. On one end control and predictability; on the other freedom and engagement. On one end a known result, similar to a hundred other meetings; on the other a wide range of results, many not thought of before. On one end more closed potential; on the other more open. On one end death of imagination and passion; on the other life. Choose. Choose life.

There is a risk in opening conversation: as others take ownership we have to cede ownership.

What is the potential? What do we dare dream for this meeting? Is that the largest?

The smallest cost in meeting to grow your project is you have to invest more time in the meeting. The larger cost is you have to ask others to invest a large chunk of their time in your project. The largest cost is you have to be willing to let whatever happens be the right thing for your project—even to losing the direction you see now. What will it cost to let G*d happen?

G*d is simple and complex as needed….

We are approaching the end of the 00 decade. Have we made it “ooh!” or “oh-oh?”

Questions set us to work; with answers we risk stopping too soon.

In life it is more important to be open to the questions G*d presents us in people and situations, than to have answers.

What is the hope of this project? To stir up life, or to cut it off?

At home in the world.

Whatever happens… is of G*d.

What makes us think an agenda is necessary to doing the work of life? What are the assumptions at work? Agendas limit us, get in our way; questions and invitations free and propel us.

Last night a grandfather
who has cancer
was down on the floor
playing with his grandchildren
in his selfishness to touch life
he gives life

Evil violence is afoot all over our world
terrorists and counter terrorists
torture to interrogate
politicians vicious
our hearts afraid of every package
every person new or strange

Whoever stays is the right people.

I see something new, profound
many a day
it is because of
the road without end

A road to which there is no end
we blindly see what is within us, around us
if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves
comes from a time when people focused on sin
they could, we could, focus on life
remember I set before you life and death
choose life
life is the road which goes on for ever
not the road to G*d; G*d is the road
This! This is the road less traveled because
