We scatter our experiences about
then of necessity stumble among them
they go not readily upon shelves
mulling about we take them apart to refit
together into something new
a way to touch the world
& make it up as we go along
children skipping and
telling a new-old story

:- Doug.

In a world of shades of grey
to insist upon victory
is profoundly out of touch

:- Doug.

On the one hand we’re not talking about mere cocktail party chit-chat; on the other, we are not networking either. Conversation is deeper than the first, more focused than the second. Conversation matters; and it matters toward getting something done.

:- Doug.

We are throwing away wind- solar- and other forms of energy, we are throwing away people, we are throwing away our imaginations. What then do we do?

:- Doug.

Silence!
Pause
Glance
Wait
Savor
Steep
Betweens
Emergences
Still!
Discovery
Loving
Hearing
These are the
fecund spaces
underlying
birthing
conversation

The most important thing we can do is start a conversation that matters.

To us
Through us
G*d
Whispers…Shouts!
Among us
Between us
Listen listen well
Speak speak well
Hear us hear yourself

beyond emotion—
Experience
Primal

finding one another
where we live—our heartbreaks
dancing our joy
dancing our pain
finding our need for one another
finding one another

People are seeking
to converse
Love them
Spread by loving

We have so many thousands of millions of people, people who are here only just now, it becomes necessary for us to get on purpose about inviting conversing.

:- Doug.

There was just now a leaf up high near the tree that kept going up, up. Now it is on the ground, but it gave hope in being airborne: lightness and traveling and flight. What if death were looked at as such? We become light and lift with a breath into easier realms….

:- Doug.

Every cell from a cell:
If we all have a parent
upon whom we depended
and who may depend upon us
the original cell
may be where we find our
species memory of being one
Here too perhaps is a conception of God:
the one from whom we proceed
still in our every cell
part of us
all of us
one

Endeavor to infect others with conversation.

:- Doug.

If competition is the best rule of humanity, what then are we to do with truth and worth? What will the competition for truth look like? For worthiness? It will relate to holding back from the clear opportunity for physical and economic victory over in favor of what is right and just. These principles then must prevail and individual gain be secondary. Loss may indeed be preferred to winning.

The meanings of our lives are the next steps we possess—next steps toward answers—and better questions.

:- Doug.

Human beings are living responses in search, not of a problem, but of someone to hear their voices on what confronts us.

No a him but a whir—

an adult
a friend

a confidant
a helper
a companion—sharer of bread
needing and needed
