A thinning of the clouds from o’er us/….

A thinning of the clouds from o’er us
can let the sun’s light through
maybe, that we may be,
unveil our colors too

Goals and purposes…destinations and destiny…home and belonging….

Goals and purposes: People can use the words anyway they choose and I choose not to argue about the meanings. They can mean what they want for others: they are welcome to their own words. For me, I am not after ends, not even intermediate ends. I am after directions—good, true, beautiful, and all the rest. In open-ended headings I feel belonging. Anything we set our hearts on today is tomorrow gone in the airs. But if I set a course not for a destination but a destiny, then I am with we are, then the world opens up as home and belonging.

How deep can we go? If as we go deeper we reach the places where we are connected with our fellows, then deep is infinite….

How deep can we go? If as we go deeper we reach the places where we are connected with our fellows, then deep is infinite. There is an infinity of ways we are connected with each other as humans; and with our fellow creatures—so this includes cats and trees, clouds and sheds, cows and crows, pavement, dreams, movements, prayers. The ground of our being is here, the ground that wants us, needs us, means us, meets us. How deep can we go? It is deeper all the way down. And plenty of turtles.

Since G*d is distributed and not diffuse, we can aim our conversations to a point in space and time, a person.

Home is from where we set forth/on our rounds/….

Home is from where we set forth
on our rounds
& to where we return
at set of sun
Home is where we live
our heart
All day wherever we are
we sense home’s direction
Wherever we come to ourselves
let us make our home
let us belong

When you are sitting passively, receiving information, one day is plenty. On the other hand, when you are actively throwing yourself in, 2 ½ days is just barely enough.

What is living within that? How does life want to break out here? What is the best you can picture?

What can I do? See and hear. Act on what I see and hear. To love is to act.

Hear what the person is saying, invite conversing. Invite living. What is living within that? How does life want to break out here? What is the best you can picture?

Much of what we experience in our culture is dead or deadening. That’s why we need to disorganize—gently, life-givingly.

The practice of law is, for me, more art than science….

The practice of law is, for me, more art than science; the adding of credentials past a certain point serves to reduce the art—the loving and caring and life-making. That’s why for me the lawyer must be a poet or other artist.
