Wonder thro’ a friend
We can experience wonder thro’ our friend, like Rachel Carson thro’ her grand nephew Roger.

There’s one more place I want to visit together: the lands of together and of the eleventh generation.

Bent old man leans
farther over a piano
in a railway station
playing lively complex tunes
Someone has taken effortand time from life to video
Soon a younger grey-haired
man joins in on the
right side keys
his watch on his right wristThe tunes get livelier the
people come around mostly
stay take pictures tap toes
Maybe this liveliness
changes someone’s track

What ever came out of a relationship? Well, then, think long: What can come out of a conversation?
:- Doug.
But this together is the two of you. And this together is plural you with this person from the eleventh generation.
:- Doug.
It is hubris to think you can change the course of your ascendants. Your influence is in your relationship—person to person—you can together shape persons—by discovering them, for one.

To be kind to someone is to converse.

Write your poetry
sing your song
call in those around you
they are a throng
up and down generations, conversing

We have to run the risk that what we say and think and do will be to good effects for the generations. It may just be true in this here and now.

Our ancestors challenge us—thro’ their writings, thro’ their scriptures, thro’ their words we heard while growing, thro’ our own walks in woods noisily silent, thro’ the clouds and blue and grey skies. What makes us think we cannot—ought not even try—to challenge our ascendants?
:- Doug.
What do the generations draw you to feel, think, remember, imagine? Develop a conversation with the generations, meet them, be of the same substance, exist in your lives and change because of this new relationship. If you can change, if you can change, maybe they can too. Small ways, not even steps.
:- Doug.
We have the ability and the responsibility to make persons. Conversation is a way. We can make persons out of generations. We can stretch our reach.
:- Doug.
