I think we have a chance to make the future in an intentional way. That will take the hardest work—thinking. And the task is probably impossible.

We could have changed all at once to smart working with the world about us. That would have saved us millennia of time and much waste. Instead, we did it the human way: slowly, with starts and stops, and without much thinking because thinking is hard. It is the only way that worked.
