Elderlings
Like ducklings, we can be elderlings.

Let us speak plainly and swirlingly. Plainly, that there is more than the surface, more than science and our left brains can know. Swirlingly in that we can embrace the mystery, dancing, not knowing where we are going.

Those best at eldering better not have it all figured out, better be examples of folks who work on their relationships openly.

Maybe not one elder but all the elders constitute the spiritual warrior our culture needs to enter conflict and fight for good change.

The fact that the elder can bring the dreamlike to the conversation tells us she or he can bring the larger truths to the grandchildren. This is a time of life when we can be the larger people we are. We have ones for whom that matters—the grandchildren.

An elder brings dreamlike, personal boundary-crossing, intuitions, and insights to the service of the grandchildren.

Meeting goes further than awareness—all the way to hearing, humanity, relatedness, and permission to be different.

How are you related to the elders 300 years from now? You are not unless it is through the spirit—our first relationship. So these grandchildren are right next door to you, they share an inside door.

The “common adversary” nature of the meeting of grandchildren and elders has juiciness to nourish.

What is our role
in a conversation without words
to dance, to turn compost, ?

How do we increase our effectiveness for the grandchildren? In each arena? How do we picture the grandchildren—what age, what blended races, what nationalities, what planets will they call home? How will they surprise us?
