The sense to use with crazy talk in the dying is Let’s find out. Be curious. Ask. He might just be using metaphor or saying it in story. She might just want assurances that you will be OK, that she will be OK. Something may be coming up for which these are the words stuck in his mouth. Have compassion. Tell me about what you just said. Are you trying to say…? Guess. She will correct you if you’re off the mark. Explore. Even when it blunders, love is welcomed.

Some insights bump my thinking along down the road; some cut a new path. This new becomes my path. I hardly recognize where I have turned. To guide others I need to carefully mark the turning places.

See humanity from a God’s-eye view: persons and generations rising and passing away, learning, building, warring, relearning: a flowing. Here you are, a whirlpool in the flow. You spin, you affect, you flow along. Your choices are your flow.

We cannot pinpoint in the past a single cause for every current event. Often, there is a complex of causes. This fact tells us no one can control what will happen. Your touch is not without effect. Do the right thing.

An elder is one who earns the respect of the community and sparkles in the eyes of the grandchildren.

Elders 1. playfully, spiritually, 2. live (and invite others to live) in a panoramic story, and 3. grow by shedding and loss.

In trying to learn Spanish, I am confused between un, una, and uno. When you’re confused, it is a clue you have a question. You can research the easy ones (unos, unas?). If it’s about life, humanity, and complexity, ask an elder.
