larger than ever we were

We begin as two cells—egg and sperm—and consciousness expands to our brand new toes and stomach and heart. Then one day we discover ourselves reversing course. Consciousness shrinks as legs and organs slow. Our spirits come back to the few cells still working—in our heads? Somehow we then grow larger than ever we were.

Let’s not get stuck in anthropomorphizing—that might get in the way of attending a fuller belonging.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1591

Cumulus clouds are blending into one another as they meet. Perhaps we do, too, just don’t catch it happening….

to ask of us

Use of our minds?

Is short term memory and word retrieval the highest and best use of our minds? Are there places to go beyond words and what we had for breakfast—or even our confusion over bathing?

Using other neural pathways?

There may be deeper neural pathways available to us than those we normally (easily) use for activities like short term memory and word association. Could we train ourselves to use these other connections for our larger purposes?

Something larger than two positions?

It is possible there is something larger than any two fundamentalist positions. If so, we can transcend the dialogue of the deaf. We need, first, to admit the first point.

What do you know? Less and less about more and more is my reality. A more unifying question is what do we not know? Where are our mysteries shared?

It may be hidden, and on purpose

The human numinous coeur is available, can be touched. It may be hidden, and on purpose: still, it is common among us. Not everyone is your hearer. For those who are, this is the easy way. We bypass points of argument. We head straight for what we have in common: love of family, releasing our aliveness; our humanity.

Magic is for free; this is costly

Basing our whole belief system on raising someone from the dead, or making wine out of water, is a bit flimsy. What if the magic is explained? Does that end our whole understanding of our lives? However, giving up one’s life for others is a profound thing, a human thing, and it is worthy of our attention, of changing our life direction. Worthy of being called God. Magic is something for free, this is costly. Which is more worthy?
