Some speak of the web of life

Some speak of the web of life, others of networks. Those are essentially two dimensional, missing taste, touch, smell, sound, and dynamics. Systems is another metaphor, which does account for dynamics. What brings all our senses and more of the whole of life into play is conversation. Smell, taste, hear, the cacophony of a crowd anticipating. Or you and your love.

What is the role of humans?

The world is in conversation. So? What is the role of humans? Some conversation is unconscious, like the wind with the trees. Some human conversation is like this as well—hear persons mindlessly repeating aphorisms they heard 60 years ago. Some is conscious, and most semi-conscious. Some is I-thou. We can choose in the event. We can choose to lift the whole of life’s conversation.

The world is stranger than we know

The world is stranger than we know. We may not be material entities; time, space, and things may not exist as we think of them.

Non material realities

Conversations are the great and small flows of life, sometimes the flood of eons, sometimes mere eddies appearing for the briefest nows. Always are they non material realities, barely are we conscious of their flow around our physical lives. The large or the small: who can tell which has the profoundest effect?

Kettle of final truth

Went to a medical conference yesterday. These people are busy telling each other that statistics and graphs are the kettle of final truth.

The view from these larger

All of this does not mean we ignore objects or quantities or measuring or structures; rather that our primary stance and point of view is from these larger.

It will come back

There was something I was exploring as I was awakening, and it extends my thinking about persons. What was it? I will get back there and beyond.

The world metaphor we sought:

Conversation may be the world metaphor for which we have been searching: it carries us beyond and deeper than web and network metaphors. It is more dynamic.

A third choice in crisis

Crisis is life and death choice point. There is a third choice, not seen as we face the choice: transformation. Life in new form, life after life.

Don’t be afraid

Don’t be afraid. Other people are not apart from you. They are a part of you. We are in profound territory.

We do not have relationships:

We do not have relationships: we are relating. Not complicated: complex. Fractal. Dynamic. In motion.

The world is clockwork

The world is clockwork, the world is machine, is web, is field, system, network, cloud, conversation. Metaphors and metonymy serve to enlighten, to stretch, hopefully to make us bigger.

Fractal luncheon table

I sit at the luncheon table during the conference, engaged in conversation with the man to my right. I am aware of the two women and a man to my left involved in another conversation. The other three people are conversing but I do not catch much of it except when we introduce ourselves. The world conversation is fractal to this.

We’re not seeing something

The fact that we’re not seeing something may simply mean that we’re not seeing, not that it does not happen.

Inseparable activity

Time is relative in age. Visits to years ago may take seconds in others’ clock time and months in subjective time.
