How can seven grandchildren be so different from each other? How can seven billion people be so different from one another—and so the same?

It is my job to help us see our connection to the larger—from insight out.

If I can raise my level of awareness of all that is by one per cent, then the whole of humanity has raised its awareness by one seven-billionth of a per cent: it is my duty so to do.

There is something about the intimate that is universal. In literature it is known as microcosm-macrocosm. In this intimate-universal is our larger.

A single thread spun by a spider spans the intimate and the universal.

Stewardship is not about merely caring for something and returning it unchanged and unharmed: can we do a positive good?
