The revolution to come

The revolution to come
comes with us
on our little tentative steps
do what makes you come alive
that is revolution enough
and brings in the larger

Creative people: greetings!

Creative people: greetings!
to grow, to do it well
walk the path within the path
we’re not full grown and never to be
dance to the music many do not hear
attend the birds who, falling, are given wings
lay bare the soul of the people
repeat after me, I set me on fire, watch me burn

A brilliance of butterflies

What is a group of butterflies? I was thinking it was a brilliance, but did not find that right off. The words I am finding are rabble, flight, swarm. Also kaleidoscope, flutter, rainbow. Well then I will name them a brilliance!

A paradox as we age:

A paradox as we age:
We discard the unessential
Yet we grow, take in panoramas

What does bringing our authentic selves mean as we age?

What does bringing out our authentic selves mean as we age?
As we peel away the layers, the roles, the masks
Does this question become more urgent?
And what of our friends who are there and no longer there?
Some of us do not care, and some maybe pretend not to care….

Footprints in the Windsm # 1430–Make poetry of everything, & every day

Footprints in the Windsm # 1430

Make poetry of everything, & every day
Write, and write again, speak spirit
Work is where inspiration shows up
The people you meet, the work you are presented
Need your voice, your very own voice
It is for the ages or only this dying moment:
What business is that of yours?

Please pass it on.

not as scary as dust

what conversation means:
a change, a death: a scary thing,
but not as scary as turning to dust

Butterflies from the pressure cooker

Butterflies from the pressure cooker:
Invite in three-legged caterpillars
—Power, Heart, Knowledge—
Good heads plus good hearts
Plus a tangled question
Turn up the heat
Out they come in profusion!

Through the sieves and funnels of my work

Through the sieves and funnels of my work
I pour forth on life my message
Hope some spills over

At the meeting place of two generations

At the meeting place of two generations
our respected elders and the one just behind
one or two turns—this is where I work

I am fresh

I am fresh
to understand the universe
to understand yourself
you cannot catch up to understand me

Maybe I am not a knot

Maybe I am not a knot
and you are not a jeweled net
maybe each is yet a window
opened to the breezes
the great and open spaces
within our reach

Speak I must

Speak I must
though battered about
or misunderstood
speak I must
this thing to me so important
give voice the power
the heart
the truth of me
the world has need
I know and swear it is so
for I am in the world
speak I must

I see in the faces before me
Some days more apparent than others

When Dad’s body falls apart

When Dad’s body falls apart
and his soul is gathering in
is this family a roomful of strangers
or will we stitch together our hearts?

Tolerant intolerant

Tolerant intolerant
including excluding
this one visits these each alike
ebbs and flows around them:
this one is called humanity
or divinity
or visitor:
this one comes and goes
is all there is
some wonder
was that a touch?
others ask
is that all there is?
