Electronic connection is possible

It does not have to be true that the electronic conversation is contact without connection. Two scenarios: My parents die within 10 minutes of each other of separate heart attacks. In the raw moments of it all, I post on a computer forum of all places. I get back a flow of emotions and support over the wires that is palpable. The second is 9-11: the stories, ponderings and reflections we share allow people to touch each other’s pulse. I feel it keenly. So do many others. It takes self disclosure and the time to hear the persons in the other parts of the conversation. It is rare. It is possible.

One center, one understanding, one overall direction

What is is about my elder caring work? I like having answers, but I like more helping people find their own ways through, bringing the family to one center, one understanding, one overall direction.

Alternating bubbles

In Open Space we sit in a bubble: could we alternate with our ordinary spaces and carry this there and there to here, to learn how?

Find themselves wise?

I like being able to solve problems others cannot, to have a tool (trick?) bag others lack, and being seen as the valuable one. But am I thus giving less value than wisdom? Put another way, would give more value to help others find themselves wise?

What does wisdom mean? A longer view, a wider view, seeing in wholes? A compass with a longer needle? A sense of what matters and what does not, of what is the small stuff? A different awareness?

Not as practical

Footprints in the Windsm # 1413–Or live the days

Footprints in the Windsm # 1413

Or live the days as they present to you
Or go to the big city to do the larger?
Choose
Have you a choice more real and trying?
Stay at your loom, love your loves
Consciously take in hand the daily
To meet the transcendent
Silver threads, weaving, weaving
For the fight have a skein and courage by
The fabric resists but needs
The larger, larger thing
