What is my vision? A world working together….

What is my vision? A world working together, enlivened by each other, feeding and healing one another, carrying one another higher. Better stronger slower…. Engaged, peaceful, in continual motion.

…we shall for the first time in our generation be alive.

When people practice deeply purely truly engaging each other—head heart and hands—in the part we have to play in our common life we shall for the first time in our generation be alive.

Let us uncover the personal/universal…to our part in feeding well this community.

Let us uncover the personal/universal, touch the common and highest in us, our truest and best. This is like Blake’s divine human: our universal personal, our common best person, putting our common best heads hearts and hands to our part in feeding well this community.

Mourning: I only know that it was important to me when people came and stood.

We mourn because we thought we’d have them forever with us, and now they are gone. And yet, we have them, just not in the flesh. We have them in imagination, in the marks of their spirits on ours. But the pain, the pain comes in the loss of what we thought was static. Nothing is static.

That is no consolation for the person grieving—the only thing is to be there, be where they are and hold hands. Stand there, and face what they are facing, be the one who is connected with them and with life. And then that too is over.

And I do not know if that is what happens. I only know that it was important to me when people came and stood.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1020–what you once liked to do…?

Footprints in the Windsm # 1020

Do you sometimes, like I, ask yourself what you once liked to do, something you have long since left behind? And you know, I know, it was important. And good. And my true self. Where did my true self go?

Our world has no sharply defined boundaries;

Our world has no sharply defined boundaries; we cannot accurately measure the shoreline of a natural water because of constant evaporation and flows; we cannot say an animal stops at the skin because of respiration, perspiration and inspiration. We are more; we are morphing. We are process. We are above all life.

There is a common view that we live on information. This is not true on two grounds:

There is a common view that we live on information. This is not true on two grounds: first of all, if life is primal, then the flow of information is what is important, not the information itself. Secondly, it is not even the information that life is after: it seeks instead meaning: what does this information, this intercourse, mean to me and to those around me? So it is the flow of meaning by which we live, and this is conversing. It is how these things interact, how life interacts with life, that is of significance.

Life it seems necessitates and implies loving….

Life it seems necessitates and implies loving. To interact with your environment suggests that one needs the environment (for food, air, sunshine—life!), so to destroy your environment would make no sense at all and eventually there would be no environment, no life. To live is to give birth, to create, and if one ate one’s young we’d have a being eating its own tail, consuming itself till nothing was left. To create suggests that one wants the created to continue; to live suggests that one wants to continue: both require that wishing well of others and the environment, which is love. Life necessitates love; life implies loving.

….The first thing we do is take in air, cry.

Conversing looks like a tool. But is it? It seems to be what life does—interacts, intercourses with its environment. Life eats and eliminates—it takes in and leaves behind what it has used. Waste is food for other life. Sentient life takes in feelings. Intelligent life takes in concepts and ideas and words and emotions—and this is food for us. We live on, are birthed as persons by, conversation. Basic, primal, rudimentary, foundational, seminal. The first thing we do is take in air, cry.

Dreaming and storying are forms of living, of intensifying life. Conversing is what life does. It is more than conveying information and even more than conveying feelings and emotions: it is interacting with our environment, which is the essence of life. Storying and dreaming are means of that. Conversing is foundational.
