More seeing one

We have so many people in the world today, and a growing number, who are seeing the world as one, as larger than just their own family or tribe. This indeed was the view of John Woolman: he was trying to get people to see that they had a responsibility to all the world, not just the people in their family or their Meeting.

A distributed, WEaving G*d

A distributed, WEaving G*d gives new meaning to dried religious sayings and formulae: G*d created us; we hide in G*d; G*d in whom we live move and have our being….

The old pictures of lambs and babes and fathers are metaphors, ways of saying the unsayable. So if I hear something larger in them than people standing next to me, that is good.

Panentheism and G*d arising. Arising from humans and rocks and boiling flaming gaseous outpourings. Arising not as by-product but as generator.

What if the world uncrumples?

What if the world does uncrumple to somewhere near its original size? What if electricity becomes rare, used only for necessary things, and writing and communicating goes to more physical, or maybe more meta-physical ways? What if we are then and there pushed to be more now and here, to meet others face to face, heart to heart? What if we walk and bicycle and use people power to get places, to get things done? What would a world post-electricity, post-fossil power feel like?

Dying

Dying
We are stars
Twinkling on a heart’s edge
A memory’s light embrace
Alive in hope someone sees us
In the dawning

The people who live in fear

The people who live in fear
Have seen a great light
& shuddered
& their hearts
They’ve shuttered
But they still
Have hearts

With a Will

With a Will
What worlds
Can we
Create?
What ideals
Now populate?
What hearts
Evocate?

Kindly find

Kindly find what is
inside of me
the eyes the heart asked
this of me
for there is goodly good
in me and beauty
and I know you
kindly see

We need conflict just as

We need conflict just as
we need a playmate on the other end
of our teeter-totter
to go opposite us
or there is no go
or there is no fun

People are so often

People think that
because they talk
they know how to converse
People think that
because they eat
they know how to run a restaurant
People are so often off
