The opening at the crux

The opening at the crux of the X, the hourglass, the figure 8, is clogged with grey cloth: our job is to open space in both directions—inward and outward—in us and for others—that life might live!

Snowflakes we are
some of us dance
many of us wind-driven
most of us fall—Thud!
some of us fly
all of us can melt

The branching branching

The branching branching of the tree
goes up and out and out
reaching reaching for air water and
light, ever more light
without striving without trying
just receiving
thus the tree organizes its living giving
I have heard that bee hives and ant colonies
organize their scouting for food
this self-same way
wasteful O how wastefully
efficient
disorganized organizing!
Life is as it lives
& we are part
essential and small
& we are part

Do we receive another?

Do we receive another
or do we project our picture show?
When first we receive
we begin hearing
the other comes to living
we all do

When we say compete

When we say compete what are we after? We are after new ideas, better products, prices fair to both buyer and seller. Competing is not our value nor our purpose but only a stand-in little word for a larger set of concepts, chief among them being fairness, diversity and creativity.

The role of doctors

In the early 21st century in the West the role of doctors is to be a feeder system for hospitals in treating disease. We could have a health improvement system: doctors as teachers and encouragers of healthy living, and hospitals as teaching centers and safety nets.

Look at your mistakes

Look at your mistakes
for within the words you mis-read
the things which tripped your tongue
your misadventures
are new creations
new pathways
possible futures

The question is not whether you over here are right and you over there are wrong, but whether we can find a way for us all to be right.

What if we had 5 Jesuses?

What if we had 5 Jesuses?
A Hundred and five? A Thousand and five?
What if each were a Jesus
And reached out to others as he did?

A rooster in the inner city

A rooster in the inner city
—What’s that about?
Now a church bell
One calls Awake! Awake!
The other Come! Come and worship!
Awake & Come to your senses
One message

History tells the tale backwards

History tells the tale backwards
Knowing the deed this one performed
Searches the path of infant & youth
Yet we must live the tale forward
In the midst & distance, together
Infant, youth, young adult
Finding the deed to do and the deed done
In the midst & distance, together

Ideal is better than real

Ideal is better than real, more real than real, ideal expands real, for it includes and transcends. This gives me hope.
