One characteristic of the Press (I don’t say media, for they only go one way) is they press—they push out, they press upon us. So far they have not used well their capacity to start the conversation. That then is our task: to invent ways to help us all be media—ways for the conversation.

Being is a doing. You cannot sit still when you be.

This is a new way of seeing the world: verbs and adjectives and no nouns. Nothing is acted upon, everything acts. Even the rocks and mountains!

We live in conversation: like birds in air, fish in water, this is where we live. But we have the capacity to see our medium, and the additional capacity to engage it intentionally. This we seldom do, and may never have done well, if at all. It is where our growth and development begin.

We also live in the Now. It is what we can affect. It is where our efforts bear fruit, where our energy can be focused.
