Some will say this is too sweet

Some will say this is too sweet, too emotional, too impractical. Practical in our society means What’s in it for me. But is it all about “me?” No, emphatically no! Life is about other people and community—there are no true hermits—everybody needs other people. We come together—this is the lesson of history. This is our story. Families, tribes, nations, associations: ever we seek to come together. It is not about what we can get from the other, for if we do kill the competition, we have also killed our customers and we are not far behind. It is about working together to meet the needs of all. Even competition helps in this endeavor, if not well. Slavery helps, but not for long. We must get on the right trail, seeking the good of all.

Invite more people to the doing

Invite more people to the doing.

Doing gets us outside our heads. Doing most often involves other people. Doing leads to meeting. Doing is loving. A circle and a respiration.

Get for me to the exclusion of thee

Get for me to the exclusion of thee
may be how we’ve taught ourselves to see
our economy
Yet in open hours
our families and communities cooperate
nature and the widest universe
unify diversity
self-centered or whole-working: do we choose?
No! for our culture blinds us to our choice
to engage ourselves openly and publicly for our
mutual good and
the good of the seventh generation of
our grandchildren

Footprints in the Wind sm # 802

Footprints in the Windsm # 802

We feel a need to give compassion
We feel a need to be heard
We feel a need to hear
We feel a need to learn
We feel a need to be part of the larger
When will we come to the end of the dream?

Please pass it on.

We have our hidden heart

We have our hidden heart
what is within?
what have we shuttered?
whom? whom?

Others may have developed their sense of the Divine

Others may have
developed their sense of the Divine
further than ours
Let us open to them

We may have in some ways
developed ours
further than theirs
Let us be open

Notes to you presenters for “conferences:”

Notes to you presenters
for our upcoming “conference”
from this week’s CLE:

Much of the last two days
—CLE to an Intensity—
was based in
Fear:
Watch out—Here’s a trap!
Every Will and Trust screams “Malpractice!”
You can almost hear them whisper
Consult with me—I know these waters

But one man dared
to tell us
You can do this
You are needed

When you speak let it be
with us
and remind us of the
Good
we can do
which resides in our being
something is happening
and we can be a part
we can do this Good

This garden

This garden defies the late frost to produce colorfully, abundantly
This woman reaches for her best and it turns out well
This man helps a tattered youth find his meaning in life
It may happen for us

This war-child rescued from her mother’s lifeless arms
This starving immigrant family welcomed into our
community and cared for open-heartedly
This city hall engages, listens to, its citizens
It may happen for us

This family becomes curious about each other
These people who must work together want to
These neighbors become community
It may happen for us

There is always the possibility

Chris Corrigan says juggling is compelling because “there is always the possibility that a ball might not drop.” Well said. A vivid picture.

We do this work because there is always the possibility that the world might change.

not success, sincere effort

Success is in terms not of others changed but in sincere effort made.

This the Bible teaches. It is not about giving or even loving G*d, but about being next to G*d’s heart: engaging fully the world.
