Our real wealth

Giving is our real wealth. The crabbed person who hoards it all is suffering soul-poverty. Graciously sharing our best is our best.

being wholly yourself

Peak moments come in being wholly yourself. Let us then be inviting the best, the whole of the person.

We know

We know. We do not express, but we know. We know who we are. We know whom we care about, what we care deeply about. We know our heart…and our heart-break. We could try. We can try. Let’s!

Seldom are they asked

People do have special things to share—talents, opinions, knowledge, abilities. Seldom are they asked. Inviting them to share is gift to them. People know. They know they have something special, they carry. We hold ourselves back. We do not extend ourselves. Our culture counsels timidity. Vulnerability is seen as scary instead of exhilarating. Intimacy is even scarier, more exhilarating. Our watchword needs to be Try something!

Our gift is not for us

We don’t have a gift for our own use, but to give.

I have a message to share

I have a message to share—
sharing life is infinitely
richer
more creating
life making
than withholding

Stitched together

Stitched together
loosely? delicately
our hears our hands
our hearts
the needles, be they
questions or stories
a hand on a hand
a glance,
pierce us
the multicolor threads of
our meetings…meetings…
meetings…meetings…
making us who we are
and our own fingers
do the pulling
so it seems…seams…

Challenge their fears

The article said Anwar Sadat visited Israelis in their homes to “challenge their fears.” What fears do we need to challenge in ourselves? Meet.

We can be the environment

Maslow says (The Farther Reaches of Human Nature, p 167) “a higher order of environment tends to lift the level of the person….” This can suggest to us that we can be the environment for other persons: as we lift the level of conversation, we lift the level of persons, and of our world.

A party more fun

The more power we give away the more we have. When we invite others to help we have a party more fun, a world made larger, a life more full. Flowing waters bring flow above and below. We grow the good.

Active in our daily rounds

We have to get active while we are living our daily rounds. Waiting till the kids get older or till we retire is not an option. Not only does the world need us today, we are not guaranteed later days. This is “no till” living.

Get your heart dirty

Living with divinity is not about being passively good, but actively. We are passive when we think of being good, following commands, praying only. We are active when we call some friends together, do with our own hands and minds and hearts. Get your heart dirty.

Upon which altar have you chosen to sacrifice your life? What is your deep calling, your cause? Have accountants lost that sense?
