Open Space has a structure, but it flows necessarily from what is already in the hearts and minds of the people.

If our job is to teach something new and unknown to this group, like arithmetic, then we need teaching. If our job is to inspire by what others have done, although that is weak, we can bring in an outsider who has done it. It is weak because it is at a remove: it does not ask people to see what they are of a mind and heart to do; it asks them to passively receive and see if it tickles their fancy.

Better to ask them to throw their hearts over the bar first, yes? So the idea is you name your live questions and high passions and see how people will work together around them. Thus, we name the passions. Then from that whole, we pick what we each want to work on, and find that others share that motivation. Then we get to work. Gather, say, gather, do.
