reading a book about myself

I’m reading a book about myself. I’m always reading about myself. I read, I underscore, I highlight. After, I go back and read my marks: they tell what appeals to me, what startled me. They tell who I was when I came here, what these words made of me, added to me, took from me. A story of me. If I know where to look.

A shooting and killing

A shooting and killing of two police officers in St. Joe Michigan at the Berrien County Courthouse yesterday afternoon. Looks not to be terror, simply an inmate desperate, trying to make a break or perhaps suicide by cop. Yet think: all the news of killings the last week only helped plant or germinate the seed in this guy’s heart. So what is the role of politicians and the media in this violence? Is it at base the fear engendered by terrorists? Are we simply feeding the fire they have started? There are threads here….
