Footprints in the Windsm # 1548–Only 2 candidates

Footprints in the Windsm # 1548

In November we have only 2 candidates. In the real world we have many choices. So we seldom if ever need to reject out of hand another’s proposals: we can simply bend and braid both ours into ours. The point is elections and politics and commercials have us thinking the world is this or that: binary. There are larger good things that can give us this and that—and more besides. It is hard work: thinking required.

We think in relationships

We think in relationships
Assimilating new ideas is purely relational
In meeting—forming relationships—we think deeply
The subject of our thought
And its nutritive environment
Its focus and lens
Its garden and its growing

A search for someone

Language is a search for someone who shares our fascination. Not simply somebody with whom to share ideas, but to share the desire for exploration of the idea.

Though better than words still lead you astray

Ephemeralization and etherialization

Ephemeralization and etherialization seem right, but reverse or maybe inside out: this is not how reality ends but starts. Then unfolds and enfolds, iterating, emerging, arising, ever moving.

Concentrated effort on specific big pictures

Think about the respiration we see in Open Space: is it a feedback loop? Of course it is a feedback loop: we have evening and morning news, we have new topics, we are in a closed structure, and new energy comes in.

Of course this describes life, too. In say a business we are not as intentional, and more unknowingly blindered. In Open Space we are open to diverse ideas and pictures. We are concentrated on one thing large. We are looking for a big picture of some one thing. And within that focused on action.

So the result is concentrated effort on specific big pictures, with specific practical action having a probability of arising. The reason for the probability is that new energy is flowing in (an open system: far from equilibrium), and that energy flows into a positive feedback loop that iterates through processes of reflection: generating, circulating, and ventilating.

The key is bringing in energy from outside, then running it all through reflective feedback loops.

what is the same?

The cells in your body
regenerate every few months
behold! a new person
yet you see the same
you have new experiences every day
you are a new person
yet you feel the same
what is the same? not what

Footprints in the Windsm # 1547

I do not have to explain all; I can say what is important now. I do not even have to remember the big picture, just this piece-event.

energy flow

Not only does the self organizing system need a constant flow of energy to be alive, but to be alive the components need the energy flow in the system. To be alive, we need to be connected to the energy flowing through our systems, be they bodies, bodies politic, companies, or social systems. The system’s life gives life to its members.
